Deborah Washington has been a compassionate healthcare professional, advocate, and dedicated leader who has devoted much of her career to creating safe spaces where individuals can be heard, supported, and empowered through some of life’s most difficult experiences.
Deborah serves as the President of Cry Heard Support, Inc., a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting women and men who have experienced trauma and victimization through sexual assault. She has served in this leadership capacity of providing compassionate support, appropriate resources, and pathways toward healing.

Prior to her retirement from nursing 10 years ago, Deborah served as a Patient Care Coordinator in the field of Infectious Diseases. During her nursing career, she recognized the importance of addressing not only the medical needs of patients, but also the emotional and social challenges that often accompany a diagnosis. She developed an Infectious Diseases support group specifically for women living with HIV/AIDS—a safe and confidential environment where women could openly discuss their diagnosis, relationships, dating, marriage, motherhood, and the many personal challenges they faced.
For Deborah, that experience was deeply rewarding. She witnessed the strength that can emerge when women are given a safe place to speak openly, support one another, and work through difficult circumstances together.
More than 14 years ago, Deborah joined Cry Heard Support Inc to help further develop its vision of serving individuals whose lives have been impacted by sexual assault and trauma. Her commitment is rooted in a simple but powerful mission: to hear their cry, honor their experiences, and help connect them with appropriate programs, resources, and counseling to support their journey toward healing.
Deborah Washington brings to Cry heard Support, Inc. not only extensive nursing experience, but also compassion, advocacy, and a deep understanding of the importance of being heard. Through Cry Heard Support, she continues to stand alongside survivors, helping create spaces where their voices matter, their experiences are respected, and they can begin to move forward with support and hope.
